Setting Realistic Goals for 2026

As 2026 approaches, I’ve started thinking about New Year's resolutions. If you're like me, resolutions don’t always pan out as I hope. What has worked for me over the past couple of years is setting goals and not just broad, larger-than-life goals that feel like mountains I can't climb. I don’t always meet my goals, but when I try and try again, gaining momentum can lead to big changes.
So this year, I’m prioritizing personal growth and health, mainly by seeking a better work/life balance. This past year, I’ve been so busy with deadlines and worries that I sometimes forget the one thing I truly care about: my family. I have a loving husband and two beautiful children, and I don't want to miss their lives just because work demands my time.
Another goal is to get my sequel to Beautiful Wilderness off the ground. I hope to publish it around September or October, just as I did with the first book. I also want to read at least ten books this year, focusing on independently published works. After reading so many bland 'best-sellers,' I’m eager for something unique. If you have a clean, no-spice, closed-door book to recommend, please share the title in the comments.
